My Modern Bath Rug FREE Crochet Pattern

When I first saw Lionbrand's new Fast Track yarn, I had so many ideas. Once I started working with it - I just KNEW it would make the perfect rug! I desperately needed a bath mat/rug for my bathroom, so I worked up this beauty quick! The pattern is a unique & more modern take on the bathroom staple. It fits in with any décor. I use it in my bathroom every day. It holds up wonderfully & is machine washable, which is amazing. It literally comes out of the dryer looking clean & brand new every time!

Here's the FREE crochet pattern for my MODERN BATH RUG!
Pattern written & created by April Turner (@fibermeup)

MATERIALS:
• Less than 3 skeins of Lionbrand's Fast Track in Trucker's Taupe
• Size P (11.50 mm) crochet hook

SIZE: (laid flat)
Approx. 30" x 18"

ABBREVIATIONS:
C = chain
St. = stitch
Sl. St. = slip stitch
S.S. = same stitch
SC = single crochet
HDC = half double crochet
HDC BLO =  HDC in the BACK loop only
HDC FLO = HDC in the FRONT loop only
HDC FP = half double crochet in the FRONT post
HDC BP = half double crochet in the BACK post

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Row 1. Chain 61, turn. HDC in the 3rd st. from hook and across. (60 HDCs)

Row 2. C2, then HDC BLO in the S.S. and in each stitch across. (60 HDCs)

Row 3. C2, then HDC FLO in the S.S. and in each stitch across. (60 HDCs)

Row 4. Continue on repeating (row 2, then 3) for 23 rows.
Do not fasten off.

C1, begin to work SCs across the top of your rug to the end of the row.

Begin to SC down the side of your rug. I personally did 38 sts. down each side of my rug. (However.. I think if I were making another I'd do at least 40. My sides pull in just a bit.) Now, also work SCs across the bottom of your rug and up the other side. Join to your first stitch.

NOTE: depending on where you place your SCs, you might end up with a few more sts. That's ok. Just be sure that you have the SAME number on BOTH sides because you will be adding an edging (on the sides only) and it must match up identically in number or it will end up being lopsided.

EDGING: Side #1 (Be sure to line up the FRONT post sts. as you move on..)
Row 1.
C2, HDC FP in the next st. *HDC BP, then HDC FP* Repeat down the side of your rug.
Row 2. C2, turn. HDC BP in the next st. *HDC FP in the next, then HDC BP in the next.* Repeat down the side of your rug. HDC in the last st. (Your beginning C2 of the previous row.)
Row 3. C2, turn. HDC FP in the next st. *HDC BP in the next, then HDC FP in the next.* Repeat down the side of your rug. HDC in the last st. (Your beginning C2 of the previous row.)
Row 4. C2, turn. HDC BP in the next st. *HDC FP in the next, then HDC BP in the next.* Repeat down the side of your rug. HDC in the last st. (Your beginning C2 of the previous row.)

EDGING: Side #2 (Attach yarn on the opposite side of your rug. Repeat.)
Do not fasten off.

Next, SC around your entire rug. This gives it a neat finished edge.
